I’m originally from Brookville, Indiana and was educated at Harvard College (A.B. 2018). Now I am a PhD candidate in Literatures in English at Rutgers University, New Brunswick. My research considers the social and institutional uses of literature in twentieth-century America. Usually, this means I think about how people conceive of, produce, circulate, and value literature across its many genres and communities. To get to the bottom of such things, I specialize in the history of the book and the sociology of literature.
This research focus has much to do with my own experiences in various corners of the book world. I have worked in special collections libraries and am trained as a descriptive bibliographer; I have interned for a university press; I am an amateur letterpress printer and teach workshops on that craft and other media technologies like typewriting and desktop duplication.
